In 2025 BELL assisted in the upgrade and repaving at the Merrill Field runway. Work consists of topography for final volume computations, runway striping, staking light cans, and setting primary monuments. BELL was able to efficiently perform this work, while still abide by the tight airport tolerances.

2023-2025 BELL offered survey support on a pipeline expansion project on the North Slope. This multi-year project was over 25 miles of pipeline (over 2600 piles) ranging from the Willow project to Prudhoe Bay lease. Survey services include establishing and expanding survey control networks, precise pile staking, pipeline layout, tie-in support, and post-construction as-builts. A key differentiator in the success of this project was our ability to conduct stake-out computations in real-time, enabling immediate field adjustments and ensuring alignment with project tolerances. BELL’s field teams maintained close coordination with multiple contractors, facilitating seamless communication and schedule adherence.
Location: Valdez, Alaska
The purpose of this survey was to create a Record of Survey (ROS) to the Department of Natural Resources standards in order to support new land management for the city. The survey included establishing control and locating 3 miles of trail and associated improvements. BELL was tasked with recovering as much of the original monumentation as possible, some dating back to the early 1900s. It was exciting to recover some of the original stone tablets used for survey monuments.
BELL recently completed a surveying support project for the expansion of the Municipality of Anchorage (AWWU) Archive Building located on E 94th Court Anchorage, Alaska. Our team lead the effort for design surveying, construction staking and as-built. We also provided additional services as requested: civil engineering (existing site/demolition plan, civil site plan, grading, drainage, AG-21, erosion control, and construction details), mechanical design, and our 3D laser scanning capabilities. By scanning the whole building, inside and out, we were able to create a “Google Street View” of the project building and location. This was an accelerated schedule and was completed 60 days from NTP.
In March, BELL was contracted out by LocationSmart, a firm in Southern California specializing in location technologies spanning indoor and outdoor use for any device. They have tested the accuracy of cell phone 9-1-1 calls all over California, and this year they made their way up North. Our Anchorage crew conducted indoor geodetic surveys of 15 different buildings in and around the Anchorage Bowl. This project consisted of determining the precise coordinates and elevation of selected test locations within buildings identified by LocationSmart. LocationSmart set up bases of eight different cell phones and called 9-1-1 simultaneously while we tested points. The cell phones reached a controlled, automated number specifically designed to conduct these experiments. The crew successfully collected and verified points from the following buildings:
Location: Deadhorse, Alaska
BELL provided civil, land surveying, mechanical, and plumbing design for this 93,700 SF production facility. Design included hydronic heat and gas fired boilers, ventilation for shop areas and office spaces, and self-contained water storage with drain/fill hookups coordinated with the local service providers requirements.
